Mission and Vision
The Ethical Society of Zambia is a humanist community that celebrates the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We are inspired by the ethical culture movement founded by Felix Adler in 1876. We believe that ethics is central to human life, and that we can live meaningful and fulfilling lives without supernatural beliefs or dogmas. We value reason, compassion, democracy, justice, and sustainability, and we seek to promote these values in our personal and social lives. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives to join us in exploring ethical issues and ideals, and in building ethical relationships with each other and the earth.
We offer a variety of programs and activities for our members and the public, such as Sunday platforms, ethical education for children and adults, social justice campaigns, community service projects, cultural events, and social gatherings. We also provide ethical ceremonies for weddings, funerals, baby namings, and other life transitions. We are a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of our members and supporters to sustain our work.
We invite you to learn more about us by visiting our website, following us on social media, or attending one of our events. We hope you will find a home in our ethical society, where you can grow as a person, connect with others who share your values, and contribute to a better world for all who share it.
