AND SO IT BEGINS, A Directors story.

A WORD FROM THE DIRECTORS

                                                          AND SO IT BEGINS..

The most difficult task during the start of any project is laying down the first stone. One of the most popular quotes today that is a typical example of this is "Rome wasn't built in a day", and true to the saying, the city of Rome is a magnificent and beautiful city that has been a symbol of greatness across thousands of years and it took thousands of years to be built too. The fact is, all good things take time. Excellence can not be achieved overnight, and only real hard work produces the best of results.

The Ethical Society of Zambia is an organization that has extremely clear goals, and we hope to make significant strides in the development of a community that has a passion to set the world alight with not just the promise of a better tomorrow but the commitment to being a direct influence of bringing to life a better world for generations to come. We would like our work to be centered on objective reasoning, identifying the many problems that we face and finding practical solutions to them. We hope to look to the world of science for answers on the things we know little of and the things we hope to know more of and using empirical evidence to justify our conclusions.

Humanity is one, we share so much in common despite the different backgrounds and environments that we all grew up in. Here at ESZ, we believe that everyone has the potential to be the difference and make a significant impact in their immediate communities and we have the tools to help each and everyone realize that potential.

Our structure is simple and straightforward, we have for many months now monitored how other organizations have been successful in some of the goals and aims that are similar to ours, and we have deployed the same exact systems and tact in our management, from the appointment of board directors to the active project that will soon be announced, and because of this clear and determined commitment to passing the milestones set before us, we have already found ourselves with committed and trusted partners around the world.

I look forward to hearing from all of you and getting to see you grow with us.

My Kind Regards,

Asher Zimba,
President.

I never once imagined myself to being a part of an organization like this, and being tasked with the day to day management of it's operations, but after our first board meeting, I was extremely excited about the plans being laid out. It was just not a one year plan, but a plan set across several consecutive years with clear intentions of what we hope to achieve.

It is fairly simple, we started by first recognizing the areas that needed immediate attention, identifying the parts that seem to be lacking or outright need considerable effort and working on how best we could change the odds. The several hours spent just planning our next five years was overwhelming but I am glad to announce that it was just as rewarding.

I've spent my earlier years running a few businesses in Lusaka after I graduated with my B.A in Business Administration and without saying much on the technical differences of the two, I believe that an organization of this nature has several different and unique challenges and I hope that my voluntary work at ESZ will be an awesome experience.

Best wishes,
Busubo Mwewa,
Executive Director.

Happy Holidays To Everyone!

Happy Holidays! As this year comes to end, we should reflect on many things that have happened in our African secular community and what we can do to make things better next year. Even though we are very new on the scene, we already know about the continued abuse of human rights in many countries. The right to the freedom from and of religion is a fundamental human right that should be respected throughout this continent and we can fairly say that Africa has a lot of work to do with regards to allowing people the freedom of thought that they inherently deserve. The situation in Zambia and Southern Africa is far different than the Northern and Eastern regions of Africa. A lot of secular individuals face religious prejudice at work and at home. The severity of these cases however, far surpasses what is seen in Non-African or Non-Middle Eastern countries. The socio-economic status of many countries is marred by the theocratic forms of leadership that render anyo
